  • Community Liaison (Bay Area/Northern CA)

    Women’s Elite Rugby (WER) is seeking a Community Liaison to join the Bay Breakers, our elite women’s rugby team based in the Bay Area/Northern California.


    Women’s Elite Rugby is the newest women’s professional rugby league in the United States. Formed as a single-entity league, WER is dedicated to delivering an exciting brand of rugby to the US market while providing the highest standard of play for our athletes. We are committed to growing the sport of rugby and creating opportunities for women in sports.


    The Community Liaison will serve as the primary connection between the Bay Breakers and the local community, including rugby clubs, women’s sports organizations, and professional sports teams. This role is critical in raising the profile of the Bay Breakers, fostering community engagement, and building lasting partnerships that support the growth of women’s rugby.


    Specific Duties:


    Develop and maintain relationships with local rugby clubs, women’s sports organizations, and professional sports teams to promote the Bay Breakers and WER.

    Represent the Bay Breakers at community events, meetings, and forums to increase visibility and engagement.

    Collaborate with the marketing and social media teams to create community-focused initiatives and campaigns.

    Organize and coordinate community outreach events, such as clinics, workshops, and meet-and-greets with Bay Breakers players.

    Gather feedback from the community to inform team strategies and improve community relations.

    Act as a liaison between the Bay Breakers and local schools, universities, and youth organizations to promote rugby and engage future fans.

    Communicate regularly with the Bay Breakers’ leadership team to provide updates on community engagement efforts.

    Required Minimum Qualifications:


    Must be located in the Bay Area/Northern California and able to attend community events, team activities, and meetings as needed.

    Must have reliable access to a car for travel to community events, meetings, and team activities (reimbursement for gas provided).

    Proven experience in community engagement, public relations, or a related field.

    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with diverse audiences.

    Strong organizational and project management skills.

    Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    Passion for women’s sports and a commitment to growing the sport of rugby.

    Preferred Qualifications:


    Experience working with sports organizations, nonprofits, or community groups.

    Knowledge of the local rugby community and women’s sports landscape.

    Bilingual or multilingual abilities.

    Familiarity with social media and digital communication tools.

  • Content Capture Intern (All Markets)

    Women’s Elite Rugby is seeking applicants for Content Capture Intern in each of the 6 markets (Boston, Chicago, Denver, New York, San Francisco/Bay Area/Northern CA, and the Twin Cities).


    WER is the newest women’s professional league on the US landscape. Formed as a single-entity league, WER is focused on delivering an entertaining brand of rugby to the US market and providing the highest standard of rugby available to our players. 


    The Content Capture Intern (CCI) will work closely with the Social Media and Marketing team to collect high quality content of players in their given market. CCIs are expected to be self-driven and highly motivated, with a welcoming presence that encourages players to participate in content creation and video/photo capture. In addition to collecting the content that is requested by the Social Media and Marketing Team, the CCI is expected to take initiative and recognize spontaneous content opportunities, as well as bring ideas for content they think would best suit the team they are working with. 


    Specific Duties:

    • Attend and capture content during 1 practice AND 1 social activity or weight training session per week. Additionally, attend and capture content during 5 home matches during the season
    • Collect specific content as directed by the Social Media and Marketing team (ex: workout routines, practice/game footage, individual interviews, etc.).
    • Brainstorm content ideas that are in line with the given team’s interests, identities, and player personalities
    • Take initiative and collect spontaneous content if/when the opportunity arises (ex: interesting drill at practice, players having fun together, fan content, etc.).
    • Communicate regularly with the Social Media and Marketing team about emerging team identities, content opportunities and ideas, media needs, and expectations.
    • Effectively develop a relationship with players and other staff members on the team. 
    • Stay up-to-date on current social media trends.

    Required Minimum Qualifications:

    • Must be located in one of the 6 inaugural markets (Boston, Chicago, Denver, New York, San Francisco/Bay Area/Northern CA, and the Twin Cities) and able to attend practices, games, and team activities as needed.
    • Proficiency in content creation, including photography and videography skills. Can demonstrate an understanding of the basic principles of photography and videography. 
    • Self motivated with effective communication skills and the ability to work independently.
    • Willingness to request content participation from players and ability to direct and provide feedback for best content capture.
    • Enthusiasm for player engagement and a desire to amplify WER through content capture and creation.

    Preferred Qualifications: 

    • 1-2 years of experience in content creation; experience using CapCut, Canva, and other content management platforms; Completed or ongoing education in one of the following fields: sports management, Communications, Film Making, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, Media Studies, or equivalent education.

    Previous rugby knowledge/experience is not required.

  • Marketing Intern (Remote)

    As a Marketing Intern for the WER, you will be expected to support our Marketing Team in making posts, interacting with fans/followers, and maintaining current, accurate information about the league throughout our various platforms. This role involves brainstorming and implementing creative ways to grow the WER as we promote the inaugural season and expand our fan base.


    Knowledge of various social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Tik Tok, etc.) is essential, as is a willingness to learn new programs as needed. As a WER Marketing Intern, you must be self-motivated and able to work independently on projects. Timeliness and consistent communication with team members is required. All members of the WER are expected to have a passion for creating an inclusive, joyful space for where professional women’s rugby can grow and succeed. 


    Responsibilities and Duties:

    Regularly post on our social media pages (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Tik Tok, etc.)

    • Interns will be expected to follow a regular schedule of posts during preseason and regular season. This includes, but is not limited to, roster announcements, a season schedule, game results, game day match-ups, recognition of individual teams/players/sponsors, and preseason or in-season campaigns.

    Interact with followers and engage with current and prospective fans

    • The WER is dedicated to growing women’s rugby in the United States. This goal includes both recognizing the dedication and love that current fans have put into the sport, and also bringing new fans to the WER and rugby at large. 

    Produce weekly content

    • As an intern, you will be expected to create weekly content for our various platforms. We are always looking for new ways to engage fans and grow the WER, so creativity and new ideas are encouraged. Content will be expected to adhere to the expressed brand of the WER, and interns will be given the space to demonstrate their creativity and explore content creation throughout their tenure. 

    Brainstorm content/campaign ideas.

    • Interns are considered a vital part of the WER Marketing Team. They will be expected to generate and share content ideas with the marketing team that adheres to the goals of connecting with followers, uplifting teams/players, and amplifying the WER in the broader world of sports.

    Required Skills and Experiences:


    • Detail-oriented and able to work both independently and with a team. Excellent time-management skills and a willingness to be open about capacity/realistic project timelines.
    • Able to work remotely and attend weekly virtual team meetings 
    • Excellent written and verbal communication 
    • Passionate about helping grow women's+ sports
    • Comfortable using a variety of social media platforms to produce content, interact with followers, etc.
    • Up-to-date on current social media trends. 

    Preferred Skills and Experiences

    • Previous social media experience is preferred but not required.
